2026 - Truly A Summer To Remember!

Most of you know Andy Richardson Group (as well as me as an individual) has a strong commitment to community service.

 

Whether support for Faith In Action of the Greater Kanawha Valley, supporting programs for the YMCA or YWCA, serving as Chair of my church’s Administrative Council, serving our community on the board of the Coliseum & Convention Center, or leading an annual effort to raise funding for a WVU athletic scholarship, a lot of my time is devoted to community service. 

 

But no community service is as intense as chairing the annual Charleston Sternwheel Regatta. This summer celebration around Independence Day requires a yearlong planning effort each year. It is a labor of love for all involved. 

 

For 2026, Charleston celebrated America 250 in an extraordinary manner, pulling out all the stops with massive celebrations downtown at Kanawha Boulevard, Haddad Riverfront Park, Slack Plaza, and many other venues. The State of West Virginia concurrently sponsored a celebration at the State Capitol.

 

Fireworks and drones capped the nightly celebrations; in fact,  on July 4th West Virginians in the Charleston area witnessed the largest fireworks show in our state's history!

This is America’s legacy - and, in some small way - community service is a legacy I will leave behind as a memory.
