March Madness!!!

Most readers know of my passions for movies and basketball. I share these passions with many, including my younger son Coleman (movies) and older son Chris (basketball)…although there is plenty of overlap in interests among all of us.
March is a centerpiece for both subjects.
Oscar nominees are out, and racing to the mid-March event to see as many as possible is fun. I never like all of them, but annually watching all the Best Picture nominees keeps me up-to-date. Coleman - a lifelong student of film who studied in the Czech Republic, a Los Angeles area resident with a career in various roles related to entertainment - usually sees all nominees of any kind.
His dream as a young man was to work in film. Today, he does so, but in the amusement park side of entertainment. Adjusting goals along the way, Coleman has persevered in his passion.
With basketball, my enjoyment of the game starts with the beauty, competition, grace, and pace of the game. In my younger years, I absolutely loved watching Charleston High School, UCLA, and the Showtime Lakers.
That passion carried forward with my oldest son, Chris. His journey into coaching was not a traditional journey - he played neither scholastic or collegiate basketball; he slept on the floor as a volunteer coach in Arkansas while breaking into the business; after years of service as an Assistant Coach, his break came in 2020 in the midst of the COVID pandemic.
This March, he was announced as the Mountain East Conference Coach Of The Year.
A circuitous journey, for both Coleman and Chris. Yet, both remained steadfast, focused, and flexible. Each of them are servant leaders.
Different paths, but common examples of living into your dream. It is a legacy of which I cannot describe the depth of my pride in each of them.
What is your legacy? How will you ensure your assets are carried forward?
As we settle into our particular versions of March Madness, keep that question in mind. And - if I can help - give me a call.
And enjoy a great movie or basketball game - or both!
