New program uses VR to help minority youths explore careers outside of college

Participants in the Minority Youth (MY) Career Academy can try their hand at airplane fueling, solar panel repair and even knee surgery — all from the comfort of the Kanawha County American Job Center.

MY Career Academy uses virtual reality headsets to introduce out-of-school youths ages 16-24 to different career paths.

'A piece of history in your hand': Charleston man donates historic newspapers to library

The oldest paper, he suspects, was saved by his grandfather, but the collection was primarily that of his mother, lifelong Charleston resident Mary Grace Richardson. The bulk of the collection starts with the bombing of Pearl Harbor and spans 82 years from Dec. 7, 1941, to March 2023.

August is Make-A-Will Month - Don't Delay
